This website is run by Bristol City Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, and contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

This website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

This was tested using a combination of WAVE by Web Aim and aCe by Accessibe automated tests.

Minor issues with legibility may exist in some areas and the site will continue to receive updates.

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Menu items with drop down menus should be tagged for assistive technologies, however these elements did not cause the website to fail comply with automated testing. This is an issue we are working to resolve by the end of June 2021.
  • Some of our Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have a Word Document Enrolment form. We plan to ether fix this by replacing them with accessible HTML forms by the end of June.
