Hard work pays off for BANES participant
July 2, 2025

A BANES participant was referred to WE Work by Bath College. Over the years, the participant and their family had faced many challenges in education. Things began to improve when they were introduced to a BANES WE Work Employment Navigator, who took time to listen and understand. For the first time, the family felt they were not on their own.
“We have always felt like we were the only ones fighting to get the support we needed.. WE Work felt like the first people to understand and be in our corner for once.”
With support in place, the participant returned to learning and joined the King’s Trust course at Bath College. At first he was quiet and unsure about taking part. During a residential trip, he wanted to leave, but he agreed to stay for one night. In the end, he enjoyed every part of it.
Over the ten-week course, the participant grew in confidence. They worked well with others, gave a class presentation on fitness and showed real commitment. Their dry sense of humour and positive attitude made a big impression.
The participant now has a place on Project SEARCH starting in September 2025.
“I got back into college. I’ve nearly finished my King’s Trust course. I had an interview and have a place in September. I’m starting to feel a bit more positive about my future.”
His college tutor said –
“They have worked very hard in class and I cannot see any reason why they won’t achieve a Level 1 Kings Trust certificate. They have shown a willingness to get work done and have a good work code. They have been a complete joy to have in the classroom.”
