From an Idea to an Autobiography: Imogen’s Story

August 18, 2026

Before joining WE Work for Everyone, Imogen felt confused about her future. She was doing agency work, but it was not always reliable. She did not feel confident about her skills or what she could offer employers and says, “I was very confused and didn’t know what I was capable of.”

Imogen decided to join the programme.

Through WE Work, she was encouraged to explore different opportunities and think about new possibilities for her future. This helped her recognise her strengths and realise she had a lot to offer.

Imogen says:

“It’s reminded me that I was capable of many things.”

An Autobiography

At the time, several people in Imogen’s life had suggested that she should write an autobiography to share her experiences and help others. However, she did not know where to start and felt overwhelmed by the idea.

During discussions with her navigator, different options were explored and Imogen learned about the possibility of working with a ghostwriter. Together, they identified a suitable freelancer through Fiverr, a platform that connects clients with freelance professionals.

This became a turning point for Imogen.

She has since been working with a ghostwriter to develop her book. She says, “It’s helped me share so much that I’ve always wanted to say but didn’t know how to.” The process has given her a positive outlet and has also supported her wellbeing.

One of the biggest changes for Imogen has been her confidence. Since being on programme, she discovered that there are employers who value neurodiverse people and recognise the skills they bring.

Imogen shares:

“The most important thing I discovered is that there are opportunities for people with disabilities. There are employers who take us on. That’s good to know. It’s helped my confidence.”

The Future

Looking ahead, Imogen hopes to publish her book and continue raising awareness of epilepsy and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Through speaking at conferences and events, she uses her lived experience to help educate and inspire others.

For anyone thinking about joining WE Work for Everyone, Imogen has a simple message: “Definitely go for it!”

Juliet, Imogen’s personal assistant, has also seen the positive impact that the programme has had, she shares:

“We always walk out of here feeling really positive. The guidance has been so valuable.”

Imogen’s navigator reflects on their time together on programme:

“It has been a privilege to support Imogen and be part of her journey. She brings warmth, energy, and positivity to every session. Despite facing significant challenges in her life, she always has a smile and a determination to help others. She is passionate about raising awareness of epilepsy and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and her courage in sharing her story through her book is truly inspiring. I have no doubt she will continue to make a positive impact and achieve great things in the future.”
