Oscar Takes the Next Step with Toolstation Apprenticeship

After graduating from university, Oscar was looking for work and attended a local jobs fair. This is where he found out about WE Work for Everyone.
Oscar joined the programme to get extra support with his job search. His Navigator helped him look for suitable job opportunities and shared advice on CV writing, cover letters and applying for jobs.
Oscar says:
“The navigator provided leads on possible job opportunities that matched my skills and availability, as well as useful tips and tricks on making CVs and cover letters.”
Like many job seekers, Oscar faced some challenges. Not every job application was successful, and sometimes there were very few vacancies available. Even so, he kept going and continued attending his support sessions.
His hard work paid off when he secured a Store Assistant Apprenticeship with Toolstation.
Oscar shares: “Simply getting the job has been a major morale boost after lots of dead ends on the job hunt.”
Looking back, Oscar believes that staying positive and not giving up was the key to his success.
Oscar’s advice for people looking for work
“Don’t let the rejections and dead ends get to you. Use them as a learning experience and understand that not finding a job immediately is not a failing on your part.”
