Learning Disability Week 2024

This year’s Learning Disability Week (17-23 June 2024) celebrates the varied contributions people with a learning disability make to society. The theme ‘Do you see me?’ is about making sure people with a learning disability are seen, heard, and valued.
Nationally it is estimated that approx. 2% of the population has a learning disability and in our region (WECA – Bristol, BANES and South Gloucestershire) that represents about 18,000 people. About 70% of this group are under the age of 65 and only 4.8% of people known to Adult Social Care are in any form of paid work.
At WE Work we know that having a job is a fundamental way to make a valuable contribution. We know that having a job and being visible in the work place helps to reduce societal stigma and promotes inclusion.
