How Oliver found his way into work and music

February 28, 2025

Oliver recently completed his degree and was looking for an internship or entry-level role in music production. If that wasn’t possible, he was open to any paid work. He was referred to the project by my mentor Becki.

With a strong interest in music production, Oliver wanted guidance on how to access this sector. His Career Navigator got advice from a professional music producer, who shared their insights, networking contacts and advice on getting started. Oliver was proactive – he applied for music production internships, apprenticeships and any paid roles he could find.

His biggest challenge was a lack of practical experience, but he continued working on music production in his own time to build his skills.

Oliver says –
“Before I received support, my mentor  advised me on my CV and pointed out areas for improvement. Michelle from We Work then helped me apply for jobs and guided me towards the role I secured. I wouldn’t have gotten this job without her help. She boosted my confidence and helped me develop my skills professionally.”

Of the support Oliver received from WE Work, Oliver says –
“It’s been fantastic, very supportive and influential… Michelle made sure I understood everything and helped with applications. I’ve already recommended it to others and will continue to do so.”
