Neurodiversity Celebration Week – 17th to 23rd March 2025
March 19, 2025

We are very proud to support Neurodiversity Celebration Week this week. This is an important time to recognise and value the different ways people think, learn and experience the world.
Neurodiversity includes a range of neurological differences including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia to name a few. These are natural variations in how people’s brains work. They bring unique strengths, but many neurodivergent people face barriers when looking for work. Traditional workplaces are often designed for one way of thinking, which can make it harder for neurodivergent people to find and stay in jobs that suit their skills.
WE Work for Everyone is committed to removing these barriers and supporting neurodivergent people and those with learning disabilities to move closer to paid work.
How WE Work for Everyone Supports Neurodivergent Jobseekers
We believe that everyone deserves the chance to find meaningful work. Our team and partner organisations offers a range of support including –
- One-to-one support to help people build confidence and develop skills for work
- Work experience and training opportunities to help people prepare for employment
- Connections with employers who value a diverse and inclusive workforce
With the right support, neurodivergent people can thrive in work and bring valuable skills to employers.
How Employers Can Support Neurodivergent Employees
Employers can take simple but important steps to create a more inclusive workplace. Examples include –
- Offer flexible working – Some people work best with adjusted hours or a quiet space.
- Communicate clearly – Use clear and direct language. Written and spoken instructions should be easy to understand.
- Make reasonable adjustment – Small changes such as noise-cancelling headphones, assistive technology or a structured work routine can make a big difference.
- Provide training and awareness – Helping all staff understand neurodiversity creates a more inclusive workplace.
- Recognise people’s strengths – Many neurodivergent people have excellent problem-solving skills, creativity and attention to detail.
