Thomas’ Journey with WWfE

Thomas, who has Down syndrome, moved to the UK from India in August 2023 to pursue new opportunities. The BANES WE Work for Everyone have supported him through his journey to learn English, to access college and develop his independence.

His Navigator Nikki has supported Thomas to access a catering training programme at Bath City Farm; this is a subject he has a strong interest in. While at the farm, Thomas has improved his English skills and boosted his self-confidence.

In September 2024, Thomas began a Life and Independent Living Skills course at Bath College, designed to develop independence and well-being. Alongside his love for cooking, Thomas is passionate about dancing and computers, and he dreams of building a career in these areas.

Thomas’ mother recently updated on his progress saying “Thomas is really enjoying college. He is very enthusiastic about attending and has made good friends there. His English is improving steadily, and he is using more English words to communicate.”
