Working together at Cleeve Court

July 25, 2025

Two young people Charlie and Chloe who are BANES WE Work participants, recently started work at Cleeve Court Care Home in Bath. Both have faced challenges with anxiety and confidence .  At times, they doubted their own abilities, but with the right support and encouragement, they found the confidence to take that first step into work.  They  are now enjoying their new roles and the independence that comes with being in paid work.

Charlie started working as a Catering Assistant in February 2025.  He works 15 hours per week and says the job has made a big difference to how he feels.

“I really enjoy my job and the people I work with. I also enjoy what I do. I’m picking up overtime most months now too,”

Chloe joined the same care home shortly after, also as a Catering Assistant. Before this she complete Project SEARCH. Chloe works 21 hours a week. She helps to prepare food, serve meals and delivers drinks to the residents rooms.

“I really enjoy talking to the residents and making them their breakfast. The staff are really nice and kind. I feel happy and overwhelmed because I didn’t believe I could get a permanent job in my life, but I did.”

Both Charlie and Chloe spoke about how their confidence has grown since starting work. They also shared how important it was to have someone believe in them when they didn’t believe in themselves. Charlie is no longer claiming Universal Credit and says he hopes to stay in his job for the foreseeable future. Chloe says she now believes she can go on to have a career.

Their manager Zoltan has seen that change too –

“Charlie nailed his interview and melted the hearts of anyone he spoke to. His confidence has grown, and he now even does overtime. Well done, Charlie.”
“Chloe was shy at first but had a remarkable drive. She’s now up and running with hardly any support and is receiving praise from her colleagues. Her confidence has grown so much.”
