David’s story – progress through support and hard work

May 9, 2025

David joined WE Work  with a clear goal to improve his skills and work towards his dream of becoming a HGV driver. His brother, who had been supported by WE Work in the past, encouraged him to give it a go.

With support from his navigator Jo,  David updated his CV, applied for jobs and prepared for interviews. Although he did not get the role he applied for, he found the experience to be extremely useful.  Jo also helped him prepare for his driving theory test, which he passed with pride.

When David faced mental health challenges, Jo stepped in to support him. She referred him to Vitaminds and encouraged him to contact his GP and social care services. In addition, David had struggled with reading for a long time.  Jo referred him to Read Easy, where he now meets with a Reading Coach twice a week. This has greatly helped him build confidence and improve his reading skills.

David has described his time on the programme as “excellent, very good.” He strongly encourages others to join if they are looking to make progress. He is incredibly grateful for the support Jo gave him, which has brought him closer to achieving his goals.

David’s brother, Kevin, wrote to Jo to thank her for all her work.

“Words can hardly capture the depth of our gratitude for all that you have done for David. Your guidance, patience, and unwavering support have been pivotal in helping him navigate this journey with confidence and positivity.

David and I would be honoured for my email to be part of his Good News Story. It is a wonderful tribute to the transformative work you and your team at WE Work for Everyone accomplish, and I hope David’s story brings as much inspiration as he has gained from your support.

On that note, we are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with you. David has passed his Driving Theory test! He is over the moon and credits so much of this achievement to your encouragement, the practice tests you helped him with, and the way you supported his mental health with such kindness and care.

This milestone is not just a testament to his hard work but also to the positive influence of having someone as compassionate as you in his corner.

David often shares how much he appreciates working with you, and I have been amazed to see him grow under your care. From updating his CV to preparing for interviews, and even researching environments that suit him best, your expertise and kindness have made a real difference in his journey. It is so exciting to hear about his progress with the mock driving tests. It is a huge step forward, and your encouragement has surely played a role in motivating him.

Jo, thank you once again for being such a remarkable Navigator. Your dedication and belief in David have changed his life in ways that words alone cannot express. As your sessions with David come to an end, please know how much we appreciate all that you have done for him and for me too. You have helped pave the way for opportunities and a brighter future, and that is something truly remarkable.

Thank you once again for your patience, kindness, and unwavering support. Wishing you every success in your ongoing work. You are making such an important difference in people’s lives.

Warmest regards,
Kevin”
